What is DHL Freight ESS story?

DHL ESS is part of DHL Freight organization that is one of the top world-wide employers with more than 13 000 employees. DHL Enterprise Software Solutions (ESS) has played a central role in the biggest digital transformation in DHL, changing the daily work of hundreds of thousands of employees worldwide. Sofia and Cologne based team is developing and maintaining a comprehensive transport management system (TMS) with a successful roll-out, that will replace all existing systems in more than 32 countries. Since its origin, the team has been involved not only in the pure implementation of the business logic and technological evolution of the system but the overall organization around the project and the design of the business processes into the application.

What will you do?

As an Infrastructure Engineer in the DHL Freight ESS team, your role will be vital in ensuring the smooth operation of the system in a large data environment. Your responsibilities will include resolving computer, server, and network problems and errors, both remotely and on-site. You will install, manage, and monitor computers, servers, and network equipment, and provide support for both Windows and Linux operating systems. Conducting root cause analysis of network and system malfunctions will be an essential part of your duties, and you will also offer consultation and support to developers, QA teams, and support personnel.

What do you need in order to fit?

• Experience in Linux and Windows system administration;
• Knowledge of network devices and protocols;
• Experience with virtualization, preferably VMware;
• Familiarity with backup solutions;
• Understanding of security best practices;
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language, such as bash, Python, or PowerShell;
• Strong documentation skills;
• Experience with physical servers, workstations, printers, and other hardware;
• Basic understanding of relational databases;
• Willingness to learn and grow your knowledge.

And preferably:

• Experience with monitoring tools, preferably Nagios;
• Knowledge of automation and configuration management technologies, e.g., Jenkins;
• Experience with Container Management and Container Deployment and Orchestration, such as Docker, Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, OpenShift, etc.;
• Understanding of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle);
• Familiarity with Application servers like JBoss/Wildfly;
• Advanced knowledge of network devices and protocols;
• Experience in using Source Code Management tools.
