Software Support Engineer

Role Overview

In the role you will be involved in large-scale services on virtualized and cloud platforms using modern engineering practices. You will develop new skills over time learn new products and concepts.

• Virtualization with VMWare and AWS

• Cloud deployment technology like Ansible and Terraform

Job Description:
• Providing technical support for advanced, large scale television and video services to System Admins and Network Engineers from Telecom Companies located through the world.
• Installing and maintaining lab systems to re-create customer problems and testing customer configurations in-house to help diagnose problems.
• Discuss and review issues and concepts with other support team members
• Support and assist Developers with discovery and information gathering
• Work closely with different stakeholders (Developers, Product Owners and Quality Assurance Engineers, etc)
• Acquire, maintain, and expand knowledge of relevant product offerings, current support policies, and methods of support delivery, in order to quickly provide technically accurate and complete solutions.
• Constantly seek to proactively identify opportunities for improvement in all processes, communication, and documentation.
Skills Required:
• Strong skills with Linux OS (Redhat variants preferred).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills for problems that span multiple domains (applications, network, system, hardware).
• Willingness to accommodate for time differences between our offices and customers.
• Demonstrates flexibility and can adjust to changes in job assignments, priorities, unanticipated schedule changes, personnel or surroundings
• Is flexible to adjust schedule/plans for on-call, ticket and project deadlines. Puts forth extra effort when needed
• Participate in the shared on-call responsibility with the rest of the support team. This job involves on call responsibility 24/7 to cover the time outside business hours with a frequency of about 1 week every 2 months
• Working time: from 3 PM -12 PM (work from home options)

Skills Preferred:
• 1+ years of experience in field services or technical support
• Basic scripting experience (e.g. bash, perl)
Knowledge of at least one of the following
• Web based client/server applications, especially WebLogic, Web Services, Nginx and Apache
• Experience supporting iOS and Android Apps
• IP networking, routing configuration and protocols.
• Oracle or Microsoft SQL RDBMS
