Purchasing Manager

Podem is a leading Bulgarian machine building company with production facility based in Gabrovo. To create a strong and professional management team and prepare the company for the next growth phase we are currently recruiting a Purchasing Manager.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

This role is expected to draw upon a depth of knowledge and experience in order to contribute in a complex environment while managing procurement of commodities. Responsibilities include developing strategic business relationships with external suppliers, contract analysis and management, contract negotiations, driving cost savings initiatives, and implementing strategic sourcing best practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Contribute and influence the formulation of the company’s purchasing strategy.
• Set strategic goals and KPIs for Purchasing in line with company strategy and market trends. Drive continuous improvements in all aspects of the procurement.
• Lead, motivate and manage the Purchasing team, including developing their professional competence.
• Stay current on all market conditions and price trends - identify market trends and ensure risk is minimised and opportunities identified.
• Identify cost saving opportunities and ensure that opportunities are maximised.
• Identify, evaluate and recommend potential suppliers. Establish, develop and maintain key strategic supplier relationships.
• Manage and evaluate on a regular basis the portfolio of the current suppliers.
• Negotiate and manage key supplier agreements.
• Manage the Purchase Order process with vendors to ensure timely delivery and communicate with internal operational units.
• Maintain constant communication with vendors and be informed. Review the delivery schedules to ensure timely delivery of materials and products.
• Address day to day operational issues with all levels of management and employees including: raising purchase orders, sending purchase order to suppliers, checking requisitions and purchase order status in the ERP systems, correcting purchase orders, and resolving issues related to purchase order payment.
• Ensure that correct certification is requested, partner with Production and Planning department to ensure quality and quantity of supplies are accurate. Ensure supplier performance is monitored and necessary actions taken.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• Higher education in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or economics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and good knowledge of English language.
• Strategic thinker, being able to understand market dynamics and create innovative solutions / category plans.
• Flexibility to work under pressure, on own initiative and as part of a team. Strong prioritization skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Skills with MS Office and ability to work with and understand the logic and processes in an ERP System.
