New Statesman Media Group is the publisher of the New Statesman, and is building a network of B2B and B2C digital products within sectors such as banking, investment, technology, luxury lifestyle and sustainable energy transition, amongst others.
The Group is currently undergoing an exciting digital transformation, evolving from traditional journalism to an AI and data-guided insight and analysis provider. We want to move away from display advertising, with a commercial model based around delivering hyper-targeted content to our specialist audiences. 
We are looking to recruit a fast-growing team of world class data, editorial and tech-minded professionals who have a keen interest in creating a ‘window on the great world’. If you have the skills to craft and tell stories that shape that world, then you are the right person for our team.
We need an organised, passionate and data-literate product manager for our consumer portfolio, focused on lifestyle for the ultra high net worth sector, which includes Elite Traveller, World of Fine Wine and Spear’s, as it transitions to a more digitally focused business. 

The role:
The B2C Product Manager is a key role in the growth of the luxury lifestyle portfolio’s digital business. While the websites have all existed for some time, now is the chance to discover how best to serve an ultra / high net worth audience with valued, exclusive digital products. This is likely to involve full discovery and user research, working with the brand and commercial teams, and really understanding the market to help us innovate on both existing and new products. 
This individual should be comfortable taking responsibility for the output of teams - they will need to liaise with multiple stakeholders as well as work with in-house and offshore development teams. The work will range from discovery to testing, optimization, and innovation around new features.
The Product Manager will need to be able to prioritize and keep projects on track, with excellent communication skills to enable working with stakeholders and editorial teams in the UK (and US) as well as with the development teams in the UK, Bulgaria and India.
To excel in this role, the individual should have a passion for global current affairs topics. They should have experience in digital product management processes.

The function:
  • You will manage the product roadmap for our B2C products. This will involve both managing BAU / maintenance tasks, but also leading the future planning across the luxury portfolio as it moves to being a more digitally focused and data-informed business.
  • You will lead a discovery process to establish commercial-partner and user needs and the problems they want solving, using this insight to help develop new product propositions which can be prototyped and tested with a view to enhancing NSMG’s commercial and editorial offering.
  • You will work closely with the editorial, commercial and marketing teams to ensure business goals and objectives are aligned.
  • You will manage your product backlog in line with the business objectives, and ensure the team delivery is aligned to these goals, through prioritization and clear communication of the intended outcomes to the team
  • You will ensure that all developments have a clear data driven rationale and agreed success metrics which are shared widely
  • You will work with the data and marketing team to ensure that the products and features that are developed facilitate the collection of valuable data using a privacy-by-design approach 
  • You will work with other product managers focused on different business areas to share thoughts and ideas and look for commonality and shared objectives, to ensure that the work done by each team is consistent and can benefit the whole organization.

  • Passion for solid user-experience; building products around user need & evidence-led requirements gathering, analysis & problem-solving
  • You will be driven by the opportunities around data and have experience in building data products
  • You will be passionate about delivering effective commercial solutions for clients and have a natural enthusiasm for monetizing media and high-quality journalism
  • Be adaptable, a fast learner and good team player
Main skills for success:
  • Digital product management experience
  • Ability to seamlessly shift between working with developers and data scientists and senior stakeholders in the business
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to understand complex issues and translate them for different audiences
  • Experience in a media or information business
  • An understanding of publishing for the high-net-worth market or lifestyle sector would be an advantage
