TEACHER - MS/HS BAND DIRECTOR

As a result of expansion and student growth, we are looking to hire: 


TEACHER - BAND DIRECTOR
MS/HS (Middle school/High School) Band Director Direct and manages the school’s instrumental music programme. Provides students with an opportunity to participate in band/music activities in an atmosphere where they have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and psychological growth. Plans activities to achieve recognition for the band programme at school, in the community and within our region. Works with students aged 13-19 years old.


WHAT WE SEEK:

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Music or closely related field
  • Valid Teaching Certification
  • Minimum of 3 years teaching and band directing experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of international teaching experience
  • Experience of overall operations of instrumental music programme
  • Previous experience at implementing an instrumental/band program
  • Arranging and composing experience
  • Experience of NCCAS National Core Arts Standards
  • Sound production and recording experience
  • Knowledge of internationally recognised exams / assessments, such as ABRSM
DESIRED  SKILLS AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
  • Excellent computer skills (Google Docs, Microsoft Office, Internet etc.) and familiarity with Learning Management systems;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently with little direct supervision;
  • Ability to work as a part of a team;
  • Accept responsibility and is self–motivated;
  • Demonstrate strong work ethic to achieve academic goals;
  • Display effective multi – tasking and time management skills.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Implementation and administration of plans for School Band Programme
  • Directing MS/HS band(s) as well as teach instrumental skills
  • Instructing students in general music when necessary
  • Establishing performance requirements, enforcing academic requirements, and verifying each student’s eligibility to participate in band
  • Planning Band participation at school events, shows, concerts, sports, pep rallies and cultural events
  • Overseeing after-school Private Instrumental Programme (PIP)
  • Ensuring cost-effective programmes and wise management of funds, devising budget based on documented needs
  • Evaluating programme to determine effectiveness and ensuring continuous program renewal according to student needs
  • Overseeing maintenance, cleaning, repair and storage of all band equipment
  • Providing instruction in assigned classes
  • Be a strong role model and promote a positive and professional image for the school in the greater community.
KEY TASKS FOR ALL EDUCATORS AT AAS:
  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences;
  • Develop schemes of work and lesson plans;
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities;
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities;
  • Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students’ varying needs;
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment;
  • Observe and evaluate student’s performance and development;
  • Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments;
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students;
  • Manage student behavior in the room by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures;
  • Participate in extracurricular activities such as sporting activities, clubs and student organizations;
