Quoting Specialist (Telecom providers)

Role Summary:

The Role of Quoting Specialist is responsible for assisting GTT’s Sales department by reviewing requests, identifying prospective providers and negotiating best possible pricing to deliver services at the requested location and service type. The Offnet Quoting Specialist works day to day with GTT sales team and contracted vendors to assemble the best possible price solution to meet client demand and enable sales. The Offnet Quoting Specialist may also serve as a bridge between Sales and Sales Engineering or Service Delivery by helping to provide a quality solution ready for implementation. This role is integral to GTT’s stated mission of providing our client’s services with simplicity, speed and agility from quoting through service activation and support.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with sales team on processing requests
  • Work with GTT vendors on a strategic level to obtain and negotiate firm vendor pricing per circuit
  • Determine additional costs for GTT network elements
  • Work with vendors to obtain updated Quoting sheets
  • Assist in ensuring all possible vendor automation is utilized
  • Provide feedback to continually improve vendor relationships and pricing
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • To assist Supplier managers with documenting of vendors product collateral (service descriptions and SLAs) and the maintenance of vendors product accreditations
  • To assist the Supplier managers and the Quoting Team with new vendors products, their pricelists, service description and Online Portals for checking availability and Pricing
  • To deputise for the Quoting Systems Specialist regarding the maintenance of data in Quoting Tool (CMD) and the provision of CMD user support as required
  • On behalf of the sales and sales engineering, obtain and administer tail pricing for a specific set of regions to be allocated according to the needs of the Team to locations off-net to the GTT backbone and Metro networks.
  • To negotiate prices (i.e. to seek reductions when quotes are confirmed prior to order, to obtain discounts on bundled deals) with providers
  • Focus on timeliness of tail quotes, accuracy of quote and RFS dates, and balancing best tail price, delivery timescales and supplier quality.
  • Assist in maintaining a database of quotes provided, to ensure we are able to estimate budgetary costs where speed is essential and to track same and/or similar requests coming in from different parties.
  • Provide feed-back to Sales and presales teams regarding more specific project and technical details and information, and regarding Carrier commercial matter
  • Assist with any additional administrative requirements when required
  • To Assist and inform Manager, Quoting Team in ensuring all possible vendor automation is utilized and Report cases where APIs , Off-Line Price books are not working correctly
  • Produces Reports on a timely manner to ensure that quotes are up-to-date and to measure performance of 3rd Party Suppliers and escalates any issues with the Providers of the set of Regions to the Manager, Quoting Team and the respective Carrier commercial manager/s on a daily and weekly basis. To run specific recurrent reports and ad-hoc reports requiring wider (incl. technical) or carrier specific knowledge.
  • Manages the day to day relationship with the 3rd Party Suppliers under the supervision of the Manager, Quoting Team /or the resp. Supplier manager;
  • Major Bids intra- and inter team coordination

Internal Departments they will interact with:

  • Daily relationship with Supplier Manager, Services Delivery teams, Sales, Sales Engineering and Products, Bid Management team and Regional Operations;

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Ability to impart technical knowledge to a non-technical audience
  • Team player, capable of interacting at all levels and being able to work on own initiative. Flexible to changing and developing role to meet requirements.
  • Highly personable, able to influence and positively motivate third party tail providers and other team members.
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt with change management are key skills.
  • Ability to juggle many activities, some complex, under pressure to tight timescales and changing priorities.
  • Excellent communications, interpersonal, influencing and problem solving skills are essential as is the quality of being a team player working closely with all relevant departments within the GTT organization.
  • Computer literate with demonstrable skills in Excel, Word, Access and MS Project.
  • Willing to work hard and dedicated to the role.

Essential Criteria:

  • Good interpersonal skills in dealing both with suppliers and with sales
  • Knowledge of Local Access Network technologies (SDH, MPLS, Ethernet, xDSL etc.)
  • Knowledge of the Relevant Carrier Market
  • Knowledge of current WAN Data services (Ethernet VPNs, MPLS IPVPNs) is mandatory
