The Anglo-American School of Sofia (AAS) is an established private international school with over 50 years of history.

TEACHER – ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PHYSICAL EDUCATION

WHAT WE SEEK:

The Teacher of Physical Education is required to have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the School’s Curriculum in Physical Education and to be aware of current thinking about how such curriculum should be implemented. This awareness is to be achieved not only by keeping up to date with the relevant literature and by attendance at appropriate Professional Development opportunities.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Five years or more of successful PE teaching experience 
  • Desire and ability to work with very young children (age 4-10)
  • Experience in working with such children will be considered a strong advantage
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree, complemented by requisite certification and training
  • Excellent English written and spoken
  • Able to work within a team environment
  • Commitment to a positive school culture and student involvement
  • Experience in an international setting desired
  • Demonstrated success in the attributes, duties and behaviours outlined in the overview below

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The ES PE teacher is responsible in providing the following to ensure the sport success of his/her students.
  • An educational atmosphere where all students feel included, respected, and valued
  • Appropriate challenge and support to help all students reach common, high expectations
  • Clear cycles of practice and feedback for students, as well as opportunities for reflection
  • Differentiated instruction and assessment in the classroom

  • Maintains learning outcomes which are clear to teacher and students

  • Uses formative, summative and diagnostic assessments
  • Provides constructive reports to students and parents

  • Uses a variety of teaching techniques

  • Is available to students beyond teaching hours for extra help
  • Maintains appropriate communication with parents and is present at school events
