Payroll Specialist

Since we had opened an office in Sofia in 2005, we are constantly attracting talented people and help them develop their potential. To ensure the expansion of our Operations Center in Sofia, Bulgaria we are now looking to recruit a Payroll Specialist.

Job Summary:

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the administration, calculation and payment of salaries to company employees on time and in accordance with the country legislation and company policies.

Main responsibilities:

  • Keep up-to-date with the labour legislation and legal requirements regarding the calculation of working time and monthly remuneration;
  • Work closely with the external payroll provider;
  • Provide day-to-day support to management on the execution of all payroll-related processes in compliance with applicable law (creation of work schedules, tracking attendance etc.);
  • Work with the managers to validate their teams’ monthly work schedules (cross-check scheduled shifts and absences vs. submitted documents) and consolidate an overall work time and attendance report;
  • Collect and archive documents regarding employees’ absences – e.g. sick leaves, paid and unpaid leaves, maternity and paternity etc.;
  • Process bonuses, benefits, regular or one-time deductions as part of the payroll process;
  • Responsible for administration and tracking of maternity and paternity leaves;
  • Check employees’ paid leave balances on a monthly basis to ensure data accuracy;
  • Process distraint order notices;
  • Consolidate monthly payroll data (new hires, terminations, promotions, transfers, salary changes, work time and attendance, supplemental payments and deductions etc.) and submit it to the payroll provider for salary calculation;
  • Validate the monthly payroll file prepared by the payroll provider;
  • Review and respond to employees’ payroll inquiries;
  • Provide regular and ad-hoc reports on payroll.

Education and Competencies:

  • Minimum a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, Organization Development or equivalent. Masters degree preferred;
  • At least 2 years experience in the HR field seasoned in one or more of the following areas: Payroll or HR administration;
  • Excellent knowledge into summarized calculation of working time;
  • Excellent knowledge of employment laws and practices including Healthy and safety working conditions;
  • Ability to work independently without immediate supervision;
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work well under pressure;
  • Attention to details, preciseness when dealing with data;
  • Excellent oral and written communication in English;
  • Strong PC skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office application.
