Product Manager – Messaging & Collaboration

Hostway|HOSTING is seeking a Product Manager to guide the evolution of our email and collaboration solutions including Office 365, Open Xchange, and domain-based POP and IMAP email. This role will proactively solicit both existing and prospective customer feedback and continually research our competitors to determine the optimal price / feature combination for all of the products in their portfolio. When additional features or solutions are required, they will document the requirements for these solutions and work closely with our R&D team throughout the development process to ensure new products and solutions are exceeding the expectations of our customers.
The right candidate will have an inner entrepreneurial drive and a passion for delivering an excellent value and customer experience. Since this position will be fully accountable for the overall profitability of all products in their portfolio, in depth understanding of business concepts such as gross margin analysis, forecasting, and contract negotiations are a must, along with technical prowess with email technologies and market trends.


• Maintain the official product catalog for all current email solutions, including Office 365, Open Xchange and POP / IMAP email services.
• Work with customer service, accounting, operations, and support to ensure that all aspects of the customer experience, provisioning & fulfillment, billing, and technical support are running smoothly and collaborate with department heads to optimize processes as needed.
• Continually research competitors, market trends, and new technologies to ensure our suite of services is always one step ahead.
• Lead the effort to develop unique differentiators that enhance the value of our packages and set us apart from competitors.
• Take the initiative to develop new solutions whenever a gap or opportunity exists within the product portfolio and work collaboratively with the development team throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Act as an internal advocate for customers, championing their needs and representing their interests at all meetings and internal discussions.
• Participate in significant partner and customer acquisition opportunities as the company’s principal subject matter expert for all assigned products.
• Ensure that all product related information presented to customers – whether in support documentation, or in system generated e-mails, or in the on-line order form is accurate, concise, and compelling.
• Lead the formation and management of a formal beta test program and customer advisory board, whereby customers can test and provide feedback on future products and features in a structured, organized program.
• Be a powerful advocate and thought leader by representing assigned product lines and channels in webinars, speaking engagements at industry events and blog contributions.


• A minimum of 3-5 years of product management experience in a hosting, email and/or collaboration solutions, or unified communications services with a proven track record of success in bringing products to market.
• Bachelor’s degree (engineering, marketing, business, or related field).
• Technical and business knowledge of email technologies, platforms and services.
• Experience with Agile development/Scrum methodologies.
• Strong planning and project management skills.
• Ability to understand and write technical documentation.
• Experience working in a driven, dynamic environment.
• Strong collaborative skills and the ability to be speak openly with customers in the interest of getting direct feedback on our product suite.
• Able to effectively operate in a matrix organization - coordinating people and resources from multiple areas of the company
